6 ways to lead a healthy life

You hear a lot of people nowadays talking about trying to lead a healthy life, which is very good. But what exactly is being healthy? Is it eating only vegetables? Or is it spending hours in the gym? Or may be it is some thing else? Everyone has their own view about life and how they want to lead it. I personally think a person who IS healthy always LOOKS healthy. I think when you are 60 and you can stand up easily with out the 'AARGHH, OOO, Oh God' sounds, you have lead a healthy life. Now these people have taken care of themselves at their young ages to ensure minimum damage (or even improvements) to their machinery (their mind and body...just in case your didn't know). So if we find out what they did, and do the same - chances are, we can stay healthy as well. Here is what my recommendations for a healthy life style are:

Eat the right stuff: There is lots and lots of information out there about what the best way to eat is. Let's put everything aside and simply concentrate on the basics. We have three Macro-nutrients (Carbohydrates, Proteins and Fats) and two Micro-nutrients (Minerals and Vitamins). We should have a balanced diet where we get everything. Don't eliminate anything, just decrease your saturates fats, trans-fats and simple sugars. Try to increase your fruits and vegetable for vitamins, minerals and lots of evergy. Just look at Jack Lalanne. He is over 80 years old and still active as ever. He swears by fruits and vegetables, so it's a safe bet that they would do good for us.

Keep physically active: I'm not saying that you should become a gym junkie but try and stuff active where you can. Instead of taking the elevator, take the stairs. Do some house chores, especially where you have to move stuff. So many other things you can do. The idea is to stay active. On top of that, start working out a bit. It totally depends on what kind of workout you want to do, there are lots and lots of options. I suggest anything that raises your heart rate is good. Just be regular and keep at it.

Strengthen your mind: It is not just about exercising your body. We should also exercise our minds. A couple of tips that I have found to be useful are 'the I can attitude' and 'the ability to question'. You will always keep your mind active by thinking and looking for answers. Reading and conversing always helps your mind.

Get enough sleep: This is something that you read everywhere. 6 - 8 hours of sleep for us mortals. For people who work out like crazy, at least 8 hours of sleep is necessary. It gives your body the much needed rest after all that proper eating and exercise. Plus, the stabilzation of bodily chemicals.

Clean your surrounding: This is a smallie but a goodie. If your surroundings are clean, you minimize the any health problem due to un-cleanliness. Things like washing your hands, keeping your room clean etc. will always help.

Stay away from bad habits: I know some people might call me "UNCOOL" for saying that you shouldn't smoke or drink alcohol etc. We know what problems we face because of smoking, drugs and alcohol; basically, if you stay away from them, you stay safe from all the diseases that some with it. so.....STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!!

Hope this was useful. Don't forget to leave a comment and tell me what you think.
